The East Hartford Chamber of Commerce is“Committed to your business, and connected to our community.” _____________________The East Hartford Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit business, supported by dues from our members. The goal of the East Hartford Chamber of commerce is to encourage the development of business and enhance the quality of life in our community.The East Hartford Chamber of Commerce has been in existence for over ninety years to represent and serve the people of East Hartford. The goal of the East Hartford Chamber of Commerce is to encourage the development of businesses and enhance the growing needs of the local business community.The East Hartford Chamber of Commerce is a membership based organization representing a diverse number of businesses that conduct business in or with the East Hartford community.The East Hartford Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization independent of the town of East Hartford. The Chamber office is open Monday through Friday and employs a full-time staff. Our members range from small businesses to large operations. They include manufacturers, professional firms, retail stores and restaurants among others.The East Hartford Chamber is actively involved with elected officials of the town of East Hartford and State of Connecticut as an advocate for legislation and policies supportive of local businesses.The East Hartford Chamber of Commerce can refer the public to a wide array of products and services offered by member businesses.Our website offers information on member businesses, who can provide you with excellent services and products.If you are an East Hartford business, or do business in East Hartford, please check out our membership page for information on how you can benefit from our programs.

We are currently recruiting for the position of President for the East Hartford Chamber of Commerce, and we are looking for someone who embraces challenges, can translate vision and is enthusiastic about growing a successful project! The East Hartford Chamber of Commerce President reports to the Chairperson of the EHCoC Board of Directors. The President’s position is one of authority and independence, requiring strategic thinking and operational planning skills, experience in board relationships, business development, fiscal management and advocacy.Candidates will have previous experience leading a corporation, nonprofit or governmental organization or division; will be able to provide evidence of successful community organizing; revenue generation; corporate relations; and employee management.This is an executive level position, with offices based in East Hartford.All candidates are encouraged to apply by email with resume and salary requirements to: ehchamber_easthartfordchamber.com, subject line: EHCoC Recruitment Committee. The part of the lands once inhabited by the Podunk Indians, the town saw its first permanent colonists in 1635 when Thomas Hooker and his followers came from Cambridge, Massachusetts to found Hartford. The east side of the Connecticut River was at that time part of Hartford. Initially settled about 1640, early settlers here included William Goodwin, Thomas Burnham and William Pitkin.The first petition by residents to establish a separate Town was rejected by the General Assembly in 1726. Several more petitions were submitted between that year and 1783, when the Assembly at last gave its approval to the incorporation of East Hartford. The Town then received its Charter from the State of Connecticut on the land area taken from the City of Hartford.Today, the Town of East Hartford is governed by a strong Mayor form of government. The Charter empowers the Mayor to govern the Town in cooperation with an elected nine-member Town Council and Town Treasurer. The Chairman of the Town Council is also the Deputy Mayor, and his powers include the power to approve and adopt the Annual Budget, the power to enact ordinances, the power to fix penalties and fines, and the powers of subpoena and investigation.

Hours of the new year will be held at the Marco

Polo Restaurant and will be sponsored by UTC

and the American Cancer Society. And because

so many of you asked about an opportunity to

say goodbye to Ron and to wish him well, the

Chamber hopes that you will join us at this

Business After Hours. As always, the hours

for this event are 5:00-7:00 pm, and will include

a Business Card Raffle. Food, wine and soft

drinks will be provided, so we will all be able to

raise a glass to Ron and thank him for his

contributions in leaving this Chamber in a much

stronger, more viable position than when he

Goodwin College Opportunity

Goodwin College is hosting a course in Basic Physical Security Assessment conducted by BLUELINE Risk Mitigation Group on November 14-18. The flyer is attached for any interested members to review. This five day course provides participants with the knowledge and ability to implement risk analysis programs and the skills necessary to conduct security surveys and risk assessments to facilities and events.

Who Should Attend? Private Sector or Government persons who are tasked with reviewing and assessing assets within their jurisdiction. Individuals who work within mass transit, school or university settings or other mass populated locations such as malls or office buildings will gain useful knowledge in asset protection methods.
